Pyranha. We arrived as the show opened at 9am and immediately went to our first private appointment of the day with Pyranha Kayaks. Pyranha had some exciting announcements for us for sure! One of which is they are launching an all new river running boat called the Shiva(light blue boat below). This boat will be an awesome entry level boat for the newbies and also a super stable boat for us veteran river runners who are not quite ready to move into the Burn yet. The chines are super soft and it is just overall a great looking boat that is going to prove to ride super well through those holes. Pyranha also showed us their new playboat which is coming out for 2012. It has yet to be named, but this boat will rival the Wavesport Project X and the Jackson Rockstar. The designer, Robert Peerson, was on-hand and is very proud of this new edition to the Pyranha line. Pyranha will also be launching new limited edition colors that will rotate every few months (hence why they are “limted edition” colors). See the photo included which shows their “Bubble Gum” colors on the Varun (pink, grey and black) and also what I call the “80's Tye-Dye” color on the Burn in the photo. Pyranha also has a longer river runner they will be launching this year called the Loki. Like the Jackson Free Runner – this boat is kinda old school retro – but really kinda cool! We have lined up an EXCLUSIVE demo day with Golden River Sports for Spring 2012 with the Pyranha pros themselves (Team A from Demshitz) at the Golden Playpark to come show you their new toys in person! Date TBA next spring. VERY COOL stuff...very exciting appointment! NOTE: The Molan, Z-One and Ammo will be discontinued.

WRSI: Designer/Owner Nick Turner was on hand to show us new colors and designs for 2012. And yes – the full face removable chin guard will be available for helmets in all sizes next year. Otherwise we will tar and feather him.
Stohlquist: The redesign on the “Free Play” dry-top is something to look into for 2012 if you are in the market for a new top. New fabrics gonna make a big splash. Stohlquist is a company that started in Colorado in the Ark Valley so we have a fondness for them and the Stohlquist family – which we still see on the rivers on a regular basis.
Five Ten: Golden River Sports is now carrying the Five Ten Water Tennie as this company made a big splash in 2011 in Colorado in the kayaking community. Sticky, but strong – the brand of the brave. Look good – actually work! Check out their video blog from Outdoor Retailer here: www.FiveTen.com
Teva: WICKED cool booth and they won the award for most Tweets (Twitter) postings during the conference itself for “most talked about brands” at almost 30,000 hits. Their new stuff coming out for 2012 is AMAZING and sure to please anyone. The replacement for the “Cherry Bomb” bootie is going to be highly sought-after for kayakers. REALLY grippy sole – no more eating sh*t on shore while scouting. Their shoe the Gnarkosi did SUPER well as a seller for them in Colorado during 2011 and they thank you for your business. Teva also puts on THEE party every year at OR and this year was no exception with their 80's themed Club Night.
Jack's Plastic Welding: Whether you currently own a paco pad or want to – there is no substitute for JPW!! Many have tried, but have not succeeded. For 2012, JPW will be sending samples to vendors so when people come to your store wanting to order a paco-pad, now they have help with deciding what size, what thickness and what foam density. Jack's also makes everything from rafts and shelters to buckets and dry-bags. Golden River Sports is planning on having lots more of JPW items on hand for the year 2012.
T-Reign Outdoor: We FINALLY found a source for decent retractable gear tethers! Whether you are a fly fisherman who need to keep a net in place after snagging the Big One, or a whitewater kayaker who wants to be able to take photos entering a rapid (and simply drop your camera half way through to brace) … these retractable gear tethers will get the job done! Cameras, compass, knives, nippers, hemostats, tippet spools, GPS devices – it will hold it all. Innovative outdoor products that last – coming to a GRS near you!
