This winter, we’re happy to expand our professional fly-tying demo series with 7 events.

Join us on the following Saturdays at 11am this winter for free fly tying seminars by some of the best professional tyers around. These are free events, and great for seasoned or beginning tyers.

No reservations required.

Duane Redford - The Perfect Drift - Feb. 7th, 6pm

GRS welcomes Duane Redford to the shop on Thursday February 7th at 6pm. He will be presenting "The Perfect Drift", as well as signing copies of his two books and spinning a few bugs.

Duane is a guide for Minturn Anglers, a Montana Fly Company signature tyer, and the author of "The Fly Fisher's Playbook" and "Hidden in Plain View: Recognizing the Obvious & Exploiting the Obscure in Fly Fishing." As a retired teacher and coach, Duane has a unique, systematic approach to the river that he has used as the basis of his guiding for the last twelve years. This systematic approach, derived from guiding countless days on highly pressured, technical waters, has been refined over time, and is easily understood.

Free Tying Demo - Juan Ramirez (The Hopper Juan)

Montana Fly Company Signature Tyer and Colorado guide Juan Ramirez (aka The Hopper Juan) will be at Golden River Sports Saturday, January 19th at 11am. Juan will be spinning up some of his signature patterns and sharing how he fishes them! This is a free seminar and seating will be limited. We'll have food and drink and in-store sale specials during the day. Don't miss it!

Fly-Tying With GRS!

With a quick hiatus from our monthly tying nights, we’re excited to announce we’ll be holding TWO nights a month starting in December and going through March. The 2nd Wednesday of the month, our tying night will take place at the shop starting at 6pm. The 3rd Wednesday of the month, we’ll see you over at Mountain Toad Brewery (900 Washington Ave.) starting at the same time.
